T1 ServiceThe T1 circuit, sometimes called broadband service, is a service line from the carrier (Embarq, XO, etc.) that can carry up to 1.5 Gigabits of data traffic per second. The circuit can be broken up into 24 voice channels.Typically the T1 circuit is set up one of three ways. It is one big data pipe, put in fractionalized for voice and data, or dynamically allocated for voice and data. A Fractional T1 circuit is designed to carry both voice and data traffic. It is set up for a pre-determined number of voice circuits and rest is for data. A Dynamically Allocated T1 circuit is designed to provide the entire 1.5gbs for data with voice channels pulled out when neccessary. This usually free the entire pipe for large data transfers at night. Design is important for these circuits so you need to work with someone you trust. |
